Beautiful landscaping can add a lot to the curb appeal of your home. With spring finally here, now is a great time to start thinking about the natural decoration of the exterior of your home.
I'm by no means an expert in this area, but here's some basic tips I've learned:

Curb Appeal: The Landscaping

Beautiful landscaping can add a lot to the curb appeal of your home. With spring finally here, now is a great time to start thinking about the natural decoration of the exterior of your home.
I'm by no means an expert in this area, but here's some basic tips I've learned:

*Note:* Design elements and principles apply as much outside your home as they do inside. Keep these rules in mind when considering your landscaping.

1) When designing a flower bed consider the lines an
d shapes of your house.
if your house has a lot of straight lines and boxy shapes (as most houses do), try using curved lines when designing your flower beds to incorporate more interest and variety.

4) Place your larger/taller perennials in between your shrubs.
Perennials are plants that come back every year, and continue to become more big and beautiful with time. Invest in perennials! Use as many of them as you can, but remember to give them adequate space to grow and fill -out over time. Plant your perennials in clusters as opposed to planting them in rows. Cluster-planting will in my opinion, bring a more impressive result.

5) Fill empty spaces with annuals.
Especially while your garden is young and your perennials immature (first 3 years), you will want to fill in your empty spaces with annuals. Annuals are plants and flowers that only last for one growing season, and need to be replaced every year.

These can be purchased at many different stores in Greensboro, http://www.newgarden.com/
Lowes,
Home Depot
Walmart
New Garden Gazebo
Guilford Garden Center inc.

*General Planting Tip:*
Keep principles of variety and repetition in mind when ch
oosing where to place all of your plants. Consider height, size, shape, and color of foliage and blooms, as well as timing of blooms when placing plants next to each other. Try to create as much harmony as possible throughout the growing season.
6) Add levels:
Adding levels to your landscaping brings more interest and variety. Some of this can be done with the plants themselves, otherwise you can raise flower-beds, or tier sections of your property. Incorporate different pots, boxes, and hanging baskets as well to add more levels to your landscaping.

Looking for a great neighborhood in Northwest Greensboro

Horse Pen Creek Rd. and Jessup Grove Rd. Neighborhoods

Notable & Unique Neighborhood Characteristics
Many things matter about a neighborhood, but the first thing most people notice is the way a neighborhood looks and its particular character. For example, one might notice whether the buildings all date from a certain time period. This particular neighborhood in Greensboro, the Horse Pen Creek Rd / Jessup Grove Rd neighborhood, has some outstanding things about the way it looks and its way of life that are worth highlighting. For more information about this particular area visit http://www.greensborohometeam.com/mimarket/zip/27410/

Proximity to the Bicentennial Greenway:
The Bicentennial Greenway is a multiple-use trail. The Bicentennial Greenway is open daily from sunrise to sunset. This Green way, is a collaborative effort between Guilford County and the City of Greensboro. It is  Approximately eight miles long.  Approximately seven miles of the Bicentennial Trail are completed in the High Point area . Only 3.5 more miles of trail need to be completed before the two trail segments converge, providing an almost 20 mile green-way that connects the City of High Point to the City of Greensboro.

This trail is a great way to get outside and exercise. One can enjoy the spring flowers and also experience beautiful walks viewing the fall leaves. Bicycles are allowed and encouraged, this is a great way to get the whole family out and moving while spending the day together. There are many different bike trails. For more information on this area click here.

Getting to Work
Even if your neighborhood is walk-able, you may still have to drive to your place of work. Some neighborhoods are located where many can get to work in just a few minutes, while others are located such that most residents have a long and arduous commute. The greatest number of commuters in Horse Pen Creek Rd / Jessup Grove Rd neighborhood spend between 15 and 30 minutes commuting one-way to work (49.7% of working residents), which is shorter than the time spent commuting to work for most Americans.

I am sure that we have all heard about the loop coming soon in this area. This will provide easier access through town and less time driving on narrow crowded roads. The four-mile project running from Bryan Boulevard to Battleground Avenue is a critical part of the 40-mile loop designed to improve traffic flow around the Gate City while also providing a more direct route for Rockingham County residents to the PTI airport.
